If there’s one thing the Coronavirus pandemic has shown us, it’s our ability to adapt. Like most industries impacted by the current lockdown, the world of live entertainment has been quick to seek new ways to keep in touch with audiences, to continue offering an experience which, while not entirely matching up to a live concert, a night out at the theatre or a comedy night down the local, gets pretty close.

For us, the connection we have with our audiences and theatres across the UK is massively important, and while our current tour of Jane Eyre may have come to an end prematurely, we are working hard to limit the impact of today’s challenges on audiences, theatres and artists, while ensuring we can continue to bring you the very best live theatre experience when the restrictions are lifted.

We’re delighted, therefore, to announce the launch of HUB, the new home for digital media exclusive to Blackeyed Theatre, including the latest interviews, previews and streamed performances. Join us backstage (well, virtually), get to know the artists and enjoy exclusive insights into shows past, present and future.

Artistic Director, Adrian McDougall, says “We’re currently facing our biggest ever challenge as an industry. The sacrifice and bravery of key workers, and in particular NHS front line staff, offers us all some perspective, but for those whose livelihoods are at risk as a result of social distancing, it’s a very worrying time. Connecting with our audience digitally is partly about ensuring our sustainability as an industry, but it’s also about recreating something of the unique shared experience live theatre provides, offering people a human connection to the world of theatre, and looking ahead to a time when we can reconnect in person. We will be adding a whole range of videos to HUB over the coming weeks, while we look forward to bringing The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde to theatres across the UK from September”.
